Pilots about our simulators

Evaluation of simulator adequacy is one of the key moments in its development. It deals with one of the major questions that every manufacturer comes up with – the problem of man’s integration into the educational process. During training the pilot must gain experience equal to one he could get in real environment. That’s why it is highly important to consider professional pilots’ opinion.

We are proud of the fact that our simulators have been tested by leading test-pilots and highly-experienced combatant pilots of the RF Armed Forces.

Mikhail Pavlenko, test-pilot of the 1st class:

«The Ka-52 simulator is highly adequate to the real helicopter. The cockpit, control levels, displays, indicator panels, and most importantly the logic of how systems work fully correspond to the real combat Ka-52. Speaking about the differences I would highlight the absence of motion system that doesn’t provide a real-flight feeling due to the absence of overloads, speed-up (especially at turns and maneuvering ) and you don’t feel it when the helicopter starts to slump . But visual impressions are very similar to the real rotary-wing and the pilot accustoms to the picture in several seconds. All other sensations such as speed reaction, acceleration and braking are absolutely real. I can say that the quality of dynamic model is on a very good level as I can train the same piloting tasks at the simulator as I did at a real helicopter. It means high level of correspondence, adequacy of math model which is the most important characteristics of the training complex».

Sergey Sherbina, Colonel, deputy –director of the training center for test pilots:

«First of all I’d like to highlight the quality of the Su-34 simulator. Secondly, I’d like to emphasize that despite hard economic conditions CSTS Dinamika managed to keep the team of highly qualified specialists. Today we experience limits on spare, fuels and lubricants supply for military units, we face a significant reduction in the number of flight hours, so the importance of sims can’t be underestimated. Every aviation unit should run a simulator and the more – the better. What’s more it would be great to change the attitude of the crew towards the simulator. Today the number of real flights has sky rocketed so training on earth is of life importance. During the recurrent training the simulator in aviation unit is a must».

Eduard Maluk, Lieutenant Colonel, senior test navigator:

«During several years of co-operation with CSTS Dinamika I’ve made a very good impression of the team. I had a chance to participate in development of the Su-24, the MiG-31 and the Su-34 simulators. I’d like to say that the sims are developed on a high quality level, in short terms and are very real. I’d like to add that the development of FTD alongside with the aircraft could increase the effectiveness of military equipment and to help pilots in mastering new aircraft. It’s pleasant to work with CSTS Dinamika and I’d like to wish the company more orders and successful work».

Rafik Ikhsanov, Colonel, Military Pilot, the Hero of Russia:

«I got familiar with Dinamika sims in far 2003 when I evaluated the equipment in a positive way. I realized it was a great chance for pilots to learn to fly as well as to restore flying skills on the ground. Our today visit (February, 19, 2009) was far more surprising due to the significant progress achieved. Sims became more qualitative, effective and enabled pilots to perform various maneuvers namely taking off, landing, aerobatics, air-to-air and air-to-ground targeting. You’ve made a large step forward and the process is still going on.»

Alexander Rydukh, Colonel, Honored Military Pilot of Russia, the Hero of Russia:

«Dinamika simulators present invaluable means of education, restoring skills and research work. If the pilot has a concrete task the sim helps to work it out properly. In the future it will influence the educational process in the most beneficial way. Years ago we used to run helicopters without starting engines. Depending on the task the pilot push various tumblers keeping in mind the chain of actions to perform during flight emergencies. Now there’s a unique possibility to train it with the help of sims that imitate the real environment as well as weather conditions – snow, rain – and day/night vision. The training time will surely compensate engine recourses and fuel thus shortening training hours for young pilots.»

Alexander Zhykov, Colonel, Russian Military Rescuer, the Hero of Russia:

«I got the feeling of the real flight which is extremely important. I used to perform aviation search and rescue service and I’d like to highlight there’s a lot of things to work on as pilots don’t put on parachute systems when operating sims. We should teach them do it right from the start. Your sims save many lives. In contrast to simulator there’s only one opportunity to work out this or that situation in the air. For schools such simulators are of life importance.»

Oleg Mytovin, Colonel, Test-Pilot of State Flight&Test Centre of Chkalov, the Hero of Russia:

«Within 6 year of combined work I’ve been watching the raising level of Dinamika simulators. I wish you good luck in developing new simulators!»

Anatoly Kvochur, President of the State Unitary enterprise “Flight&Test Centre”, the Hero of Russia:

“It’s the first time I’m “flying” on such an outstanding flight simulator. As means for training it’s really fantastic. It would be desirable, that such simulators have been put not only on export, but also to our Armed Forces. The only wish to the designers – keep this way! ”

Sergey Tresvyatsky, Deputy Director to the Flight & Test Centre of Gromov Flight Research institute, Test-Pilot and Test-Cosmonaut:

"The impression is highly favourable, you've done a good job, the simulator is a success. I don' t think I have ever come across a simulator that would offer dynamic characteristics so equivalent to the real flight conditions. The visualisation is superb and accurate image matching on the screen; the cockpit instruments' dynamics is actual. In my opinion this simulator can be a 90% substitute for the real aircraft when training pilots to fly."

Alexander Yablontsev, the Head of CJSC «GSS», Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, the leading test-pilot for RRJ projects:

“ I worked with domestic and foreign aircraft as well as their simulators and I should say that CSTS Dinamika has a great creative potential that enabled them to develop a qualitative test bench for training control systems meanwhile reducing the risk of RRJ development”.

Vladimir Shushunov, Deputy Chief Designer (test department) to the Russian aircraft constructing corporation “MiG”, the Hero of Russia, 1 Class Test Pilot:

“It is pilot’s opinion, that a very good flight simulator of MiG-29 has been created. Those who know this fighter, recognize it immediately, when sitting in the cockpit. Among others, it is possible to give a work-out to the modes of take-off and landing of an aircraft. And, of course, piloting, instrument flight, military operations. Everything is just like on a real aircraft.”

Vladimir Kaganov, Honoured Military Test-Pilot, the Hero of Russia:

“Dynamic model meets in stability, controllability, maneuverability the real aircraft. The visual system with such screen characteristics and high level of similarity allow to imitate space position of an aircraft and it’s movement. At the same time the psychophysical feeling similar to the real flight realizes. Modes of military operations allow to prepare air crew for these types of flying with high level of similarity.”

Vladlen Russanov, Deputy Squadron Leader of “Strizhi”:

“There is no doubt that the flight simulator is very good. It is really necessary and indispensable in combatant forces.”

Alexey Prohorov, Squadron Leader of “Strizhi”:

“My impressions are excellent. This is the best simulator, I’ve ever seen. Though, of course, no one flight simulator can replace the real flight, but it can help as much as possible in preparing the pilot to discharge the task that is set to him, especially such a multifunctional simulator”.

Evgeny Ignatov, Torzok Combat and Transition Training Centre commander:

“This simulator is in fact an advance. I’ve been flying since 1969 and have seen quite a lot of simulators, but this Mi-24 full mission simulator is different. It is an outstanding service of CSTS Dinamika that they developed this simulator in the shortest possible time for it enables us to train and mature military operation. In real flight conditions such training is extremely costly both in terms of flying time and weapons.”

Mikle Belyaev, Test-Pilot of Russian aircraft constructing corporation “MiG”:

“In my opinion the possibility to imitate military operations both on earth and air targets is completely realized on this simulator. It is the main feature of the simulator, so that all the existing modes are realized and confirmed by the visual system. The dynamic model of MiG-29 is well presented, main modes of the flight are realized very true to life. And the pilot can give a workout to those modes that are very difficult for most of the pilots in real practice. With the help of this flight simulator it is possible without any restrictions”.

Oleg Spichka, Test-Pilot of State Flight&Test Centre of Chkalov (Ahtubinsk):

“The simulator of MiG-29 can fill a gap in our simulating base, because it helps to give a work out to all elements of flight including all the preparations for the flight, start, taxiing, take-off, and as it is a battle-plane, to carry out combat missions”.

Alexander Garnaev, Honoured Test-Pilot, the Hero of Russia:

“This simulator is the best training system for MiG-29 I’ve ever seen. It’s main advantage is the real cabin and a very good visual system”.
